Many Hands
work teams will be adding a multipurpose
annex to a new church sanctuary in the rural community of
Silindile in 2008. The
village is located in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa,
near the Swaziland border.
Previous
work teams have built churches in Swallow's Nest (now know
as Tshabalala) in 1992, Tjakastad in 2002, Hartebeeskop in
2004, and Silindile in 2006. These communities are also in
the Mpumalanga province, formerly known as Ka'ngwane.
Our work team trips are three weeks long, with two full weeks
being devoted to construction at the work site. We reserve
a few days for relaxing and sightseeing at the end of the
project, and allow two days at each end of the trip for travel
to Africa and back.
You don't need construction skills to participate. Many of
our team me mbers
had never touched a brick or a trowel before their Africa
trips. Joseph Siguvu Lusenga can teach you
all you need to know.
And it's not all bricks and mortar. Team members have taken
the opportunity to work with in the community orphans, students
and community leaders. There are no limits on your imagination.
