Buy a Brick and Make a Difference

The next Many Hands Project is to build a church in the community of Silindile in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa. This project is a collaboration of Many Hands Foundation and the Southern Africa Methodist Volunteers in Mission (SAMVIM). Teams of volunteers from the U.S. will work together with local volunteers to build this church in July and August of 2008.

The project for Silindile 2008 is not yet funded. Many Hands Foundation is a volunteer organization and we depend upon donations to pay for the building materials and the wages of a few local workers. All building materials and supplies are purchased from local suppliers in South Africa. Work Team members pay for their own transportation and living expenses. The housing for our work team and the groceries we buy for meals also support the local economy. All contributions are used to support the work of Many Hands Foundation. Your donation makes a difference in the lives of South African Christians.

Our Buy A Brick program gives you the opportunity to be involved with us in this project in a very meaningful way. You can designate that the brick(s) that you buy be made in honor or in memory of a special people in your lives. This has been very popular on past trips. Here is how it works:

  • You fill out a brick donation form along with your gift to Many Hands Foundation
  • Many Hands Work Team volunteers will write the designated names on your brick
  • Your brick will be photographed at the work site by our volunteer Work Team photographer
  • You will receive a photo of your brick and a photo of the completed church!

Family members place a brick in the wall of the Hartebeeskop church in memory of Jane Brown ("Auntie Rose"), who helped build a church in Tjakastad, South Africa as a work team member in 2002.

Team Members - You can download and print a Buy a Brick flyer or a Many Hands brochure to share information about your trip and to help you in your fundraising efforts.
